Am trying to find something that is safe for her to use but will also keep her active so she doesn't get so bored/lonely back there and cry so much.

DS has a couple of these "New Sensations" Tiny Love toys. They have a ring and a short string so that you can attach them to your car seat or stroller. He likes "Jittering Julie" the best. I found them at Target for a couple of bucks each. Babies R Us has them too, but they are more expensive there.

We have Timmy Teether and Crazy Daisy attached to the backseat headrest. DD likes to chew on them. My mom also bought Scented Suzy, but it smells too much. My mom couldn't smell it at all in the store, but when she brought it home---whew! it smelled up the room. I'll have to look for more at Target. I really like Rattling Roy and Jittering Julie, but didn't see them at TRU. Thanks for the shopping tip!

We have the exact toy (Lamaze carseat busy center) that is in your link. DS loves it. I bought it for him when he was 8.5 months old and no longer always falling asleep in the car seat. It is extremely lightweight (but sturdy) and seems very safe. I love hearing him crinkle the giraffe when I am driving, I know he is having fun. The turtle is also nice because it acts as a teether as well. I would highly recommend it!
