View Full Version : Where can I find cute Asian dolls? Anyone has a Waldorf doll?

Inspired by Sbirmantaz's post, does anyone know where to find a cute Asian doll for an 18 month old? I've spend some time looking for it, but lots of them just look downright scary to me :(

Has any one had any experience with Waldorf dolls? They look so cute and cuddly, although I've never seen one IRL. Do babies like them? I'm very intrigued by them and almost bought one on ebay last night.

Thanks!! :)

I'm pretty certain that Bitty Baby from American Girls has an Asian version, but it might be a bit pricey for an 18 month old!

Check out Constructive Playthings. They have an Asian Baby doll, and also a little girl.

Edited to say I tried to post a direct link, but it won't work. Try their home page, and do a search on "doll". I think the cute all- cloth Asian girl doll in pigtails was on page 2 for $9.98!!

Bitty Baby definitely has an Asian doll.

You could also check out My Twinn dolls at www.mytwinn.com . Here you basically you order the doll you want! The downside is that these are not "baby" dolls. They are older dolls and are comparable the "older" American Girl dolls.

My Twinn also does baby dolls, but I'm not sure if you can get an Asian doll. They offer similar customization as the toddler dolls, so I would think that there is a good chance that an Asian doll is an option! But they are $$$$$ too.

We have a Ling doll from Russ Berrie that's Asian. She's my dd's 'lovie'. I had to hunt all over to find her a spare tho. :D

No Waldorf doll but Chinasprout has the best Asian doll selection I've found. I'm thrilled with their customer service and am the proud owner of Ling (the Russ Berrie soft doll mentioned twice below) and 4 Corolle Asian babies in various sizes and outfits.

Ling's friend Nikki (male) will be my next purchase.

Thank you SOOO much for the links! I've found lots of cute Asian dolls :) It's hard to decide which one. I think I'm gonna get a cheaper one now and then get a Bitty Baby or Corolle doll later.

Here are some of the cute contestants:

Baby June. She has so so many cute outfits. 10"

Happy Blossom. She looks a little like Maya. 14"

This one is scented:

Should I get a 10" or 14" doll? Maya is only 30" tall now. I'm so excited, it's like getting a doll for myself ;)

I like the looks of Cutie Pie, Ling and the velour babies best. I would get a smaller baby to start with that will be easier for her to "baby". :)

You can't go wrong with the soft Ling doll....she is soooo cuddly. Baby June is a good small doll. I like Cutie Pie a lot (looks a lot like Ling).

I'm still voting for Ling. She's SO soft and squeezable and washes up REALLY well! Gabrielle takes one of her two Lings EVERYWHERE with her and after a year of constant loving, they both still look great! And the velour is SO nice!

I think that Cutie Pie and Happy Blossom are the cutest! Ling is very sweet, though, too.

Kate, it looks like Chinasprout is just out of stock. Why don't you email them and find out when they expect more?

Gee, I wish I had one of these cute dolls when I was growing up. Now, where can I find a bi-racial doll?

Kate:

Let me know if you find the Ling doll. I must have her for Martie. I love that China Sprout website. They have monkey king stuff on their and I've dying to find some Monkey King books for Martie. He was my favorite growing up.

Yay, Ling is on her way to meet Maya :D I gave ChinaSprout a call and the guy said "It's not available?". So he updated the site and now you can order it online. Sonia, I love Monkey King growing up, too. His books are great for encouraging imagination.

Thanks everyone for your help! I'm going to give it to Maya when we travel in Nov. as a surprise. Can you see I'm doing the happy doll dance? ;)

Thanks Kate! I forwarded the website to my mom, hint hint. I'm definitely going to get Martie the Ling doll too. Now I'm debating whether or not to get the Tiger shoes too. I don't remember ever seeing Tiger shoes on any of my relatives but they are so cute!

My mom did say that the next time she's in Chinatown in NYC she's going to check some of the stores there. Raleigh has nothing like that here.
