I am going to a birthday party for twins who are turning 1. Instead of buying one present for each of them, I was thinking about buying this swing:

I thought it would be fun to have something that they could both use at the same time - and something a little different. I wanted to make sure though, that it wasn't considered rude not to buy them each their own present. What do you think?

I don't think it's rude at all. When I go to twin parties I often get one gift and I certainly don't mind when people get my kids a combined present. In a few years it might matter, but at this age unless the parents are very materialistic I think you're fine.

The swing is cute!

The swing looks great and I think $40 is very generous to spend on a 1st b-day gift even between 2, they'll be really happy I'm sure.

I think it's cute and wouldn't be rude to give a combined gift. The only additional consideration I would give is whether they have a place to attach the swing (i.e. existing swing set, big tree, porch). We would like a swing but don't have anyplace to mount one.
