DS's Grandma, Queen of All Baby Toys and Clothing, LOL, just got him the Curiosity Cube by Earlyears. It is so cool. I like playing with it. :) The box says 9-24 months, but the website says 6 months+. I think that a younger baby would enjoy certain aspects of the cube such as the spinner and the spinning mirror. The spinner is also a rainfall rattle. In fact, I didn't even know that it spinned until DS started spinning it. Other sides have a clicking dial with spiral graphics, a bead maze, a disk that spirals down when the cube is turned over and sliding abacus disks for moving and counting. I had never seen it before and think that it's really neat. And, it looks like a good toy to take with us on trips because it's not too big but it has lots of contained activities (i.e. not a lot of little parts to lose). Here's a link so you can see it: http://www.earlyears.biz/E00132showcase.htm

She got it at a local toy store and I had never seen it before IRL. But, I just searched Zany Brainy and Imaginarium to see if a national store carries it and it's listed on Imaginarium's site. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/stores/detail/-/imaginarium/B000087L1L/qid%3D1063370859/sr%3D11-1/ref%3Dsr%5F11%5F1/002-4582259-2943202

Happy Shopping! :)

Cool! I'm willing to try anything that will help Sophie keep her little paws off her eye patch! ;)

Thanks

Thanks for the tip! I am making a list of possible Christmas gifts for DS for when the grandparents start asking for ideas, so I just added this to the list!

Chanda-

Sophie and I were walking up the street to get stuff for dinner this afternoon. Lo and behold in the window of the little toy store around the corner was your magic Curiosity Cube!

For some reason I thought it was much smaller (like dipe bag size). We did buy it though.

Will let you know how she likes it!

I hope Sophie likes it. You probably thought it was smaller because I said I thought it would a good toy for traveling. I was thinking taking to grandparents' houses and you were probably thinking out to dinner.
