Growing up we had a hollow ball that had all different shapes carved in it. You would then have to have the correctly shaped piece - fitting it into the correct cut-out in the ball - in order to put it into the center of the ball. In order for the parent to get the pieces out, they pulled the ball apart and kinda twisted it and then the pieces just kinda fell out.

Is this ringing any bells for anybody? I looked for it the other day and everything they had out there was so fancy, required batteries....nothing just plain and simple like I had when I was growing up.

Any help would be appreciated!

Do you mean the Shape-O toy by Tupperware (www.tupperware.com)? I had one, too, and Colin plays with it now!

I'm trying to attach a link but can't. When you go to their site, look for the Kids' section. It's in there!

Attaching a link to the Shape-O: http://order.tupperware.com/pls/htprod_www/tup_show_item.show_item_detail?fv_item_number=1004 4822000&fv_item_category_code=21000&fv_section=specs&fv_category_page_number=1

That's what your description reminded me of as well. DS loves his.
