7 months:
a ball (we have the nubby vanilla scented one from Discovery toys)
a hide inside type toy---something that has a container to hold a handful of different textured, different noise making toys..

23 months:
something to push---we love the Playskool ice cream cart, but a doll stroller or shopping cart would also be good
Cause and effect toy---something with buttons/knobs/dials type thing that causes something to happen when they push/turn/pull the buttons or something like the DT Fascination Station

I'm not a discovery toys rep, honest... lol It's just that some of our favorite most played with toys are from DT (and I truly only have about 5 discovery toys...) :D

Well, I'm assuming we're not including books here.

For the 23 month old:

1) an easel (DD uses hers every single day many times a day)
2) a play kitchen set with food and serving accessories
3) a baby doll and accessories (I would get this for a boy or girl)

For the 7 month old:

1) a soft ball (like a Gertie ball but any brand)
2) stacking cups
3) soft books
