My daughter is nearly 9 months old and just wants to be upright and walking. If I hold her arms she will take several steps which she loves doing.

I want to buy her some kind of toy that will help her with this but I don't want to buy her a traditional walker. I want something that she can push around. I have seen a few things by Fisher Price, Playschool etc and was wondering if anyone had any experience of these toys and could recommend one over the other!

Thanks

I like the Parents Around the Block Walker. Here is a review I posted several months ago about it.

Target now has them for $25 on clearance.

We got Beth two walking toys...

First we got her one by Fisher Price that collapsed down flat and became an activity center. It is similar to this one...

but without the music and sounds. I don't think they make it anymore. We liked this one because it collapsed and was VERY portable. Dh's grandfather had bypass surgery around the time that Beth was using this and it was great to take to the hospital with us to use in the waiting room.

Then we picked up this Push to Ride Walker by Little Tikes. I liked that it was a push walker as well as a ride on...AND it was one of the few ride ons that didn't need batteries!!! Beth used this from about 8mo all the way past 2yo. It isn't getting much use in the winter now...but I would expect she'll use it again this summer.

We have two: the Chicco Play 'n Ride Train (http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/602-3953389-9066222?asin=B000034DOI) and the LT Wide Tracker Activity Walker (http://www.kbtoys.com/genProduct.html/PID/2190699/ctid/17/INstock/Y/D/525/ls/default). The Play 'n Ride Train is really cute and DS loves the activities on it. The seat lifts up to reveal a compartment. He opens and closes the lid, puts things inside, etc. He also likes the gear shifts that make noise and the ball popper on the steering wheel. On the downside, this wasn't great to pull up on because it had a tendency to tip to one side or the other. It was nice to push around, but only after DS was pretty stable. He now likes using it as a ride-on. The LT Walker worked well for its purpose - helping DS walk with support. I wanted something relatively inexpensive that fit this purpose and the LT Walker fit the bill. I found it very sturdy. And, it has a little plastic bar below the handle that DS would grab and pull up on. On the downside, the activities were lame, it was a pain to assemble, the doors on the front come off really easily and, as DS got older, he liked to climb into the front compartment area.

We got the Radio Flyer Little Red Walker Wagon for my nephew and I love that one. I wish we had seen it earlier. It is sturdy and attractive. However, we haven't used it on a day-to-day basis. I think that it may be discontinued, although the last time I was in TRU, I saw it there.

There are several Radio Flyer Walker Wagons to choose from:

I second the vote for the Parents walker. DS is pulling up and cruising a bit. He doesn't yet go very far, but he likes this wagon so far!
