That's an amazing price! My mom is an elementary school media specialist and has told me about a fair number of these (most notably If You Give a Pig a Pancake).

just to clarify, these are hardcover but not board books right? at what age do kids start being able to use this type of book vs board book?

It depends on the child and if you're willing to let a couple of books get somewhat torn in the learning process. Amy started learned how to turn pages without tearing at about age 30 months, but she's still not super gentle so we get 'folds' in our pages.

Colin has been "reading" books with paper pages for a few months now. We've had a few mishaps, but not many (less than half a dozen?) with torn pages. In fact, he seems to prefer paper pages right now to his board books. Go figure!

Sarah has been "reading" non-board books for about 6 months now. We have a couple torn pages here and there, but nothing of note.

Does anyone know specifically what type of books these are? Are they hardcover picture books (in which case it is an INCREDIBLE deal) or are they the cardboard bound type books?

Thanks!

Just got my order - they are hardcover picture books, like the quality of the Dr. Seuss hardcover books that you can get at Border's. I got a slightly different list than they showed on the website, but nothing disappointing. Even two Curious George books, one of Colin's current favorites! The Animals are Fun series will be a hit too - they have real photos of the animals, also popular with Colin. Here's a full list of what I got:

Max and Felix
Spot's Windy Day and other stories
Winnie-the-Pooh and Some Bees
A Kiss for Little Bear
Christina Katerina & The Box
My First Raggedy Ann
Click, Clack, Moo Cows that Type
When Will it be Spring?
Alexander and the Wind-up Mouse
Curious George and the Dump Truck
Curious George goes to a Chocolate Factory
Classic Raggedy Ann and Andy The Mouse Family
Big Red Barn
Kangaroos (animals are fun series)
Koalas (animals are fun series)
Frogs (animals are fun series)
Dolphins (animals are fun series)
Paddington Bear and the Christmas Surprise
Summertime in the Big Woods (Little House series)
Winter Days in the Big Woods (Little House series)

All in all, I think that this was a good deal and am happy with my order!

That's what we got! I think these will make great little gifts to people. I wonder how often Weekly Reader changes the selection?

Thanks to OP for pointing out this deal! :)

I just tried to buy these books. We are moving so I wanted to get them shipped to my IL's in Hawaii, which apparently is not possible. When you fill out the shipping info and you scroll down to your state they are not even on it! Lol, they have places like Nova Scotia but not all 50 states??? Sending an email to them...

I've tried to order a couple of different times and each time I get an error. Anyone else get this?

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80040e21'

Multiple-step OLE DB operation generated errors. Check each OLE DB status value, if available. No work was done.

Gina,

Do you have AOL? Sometimes the AOL browser causes problems with particular websites. If it happens a couple of times, I minimize AOL and switch to regular Internet Explorer and the website usually works fine. Not sure if this applies to you, but if you do use AOL you might try it.

Thanks for the responses. I don't have AOL. I use a cable connection. I've tried to order probably a total of 10 times on several different days and still get the same message. Oh well. We have a gazillion books, but it was such a good deal!
