For those who have a Kettler- is is necessary to have air tires so that ds will be able to ride on our grass. I asked this a while back but can't seem to find my original post. I'm not sure it was answered.

I felt I should respond since I have the air...but I really don't know the answer to your question...

See in my case I have a husband who loves "boys toys"...so oddly enough I think those air tires could have been 1,000 and he wouldn't have questioned it...
On the flip side the trike could have $5 and he would have questioned me all day long :)...

I've never compared the two so I don't know!!!

I have the air because we have a gravel driveway and no sidewalks. I haven't been able to use it outside yet because of this stinkin' snow! When I asked DH which ones to get he said if you're gonna spend that much, might as well get the air tires.

Well you know i bought my DS a kettler trike last week, and i did cheap out :o
Although i have gravel & grass...i did not buy air, always thought i would but when i was there it seemed to much all of a sudden..i mean in both feature & cost.

I questioned the shop on the style i chose for the grass & gravel they stated it would be ok, i also know my kids have gone about fine with LT cosy coupes and the silly little plastic wheels ;)

I went with the kalypso{is that maybe spelled with a "c" instead?} anyhow i like the color and it adjusted up to a 5yo.
http://www.minicircuit.ca/mi00059.htm You have to scroll down to see it, anyways our weather still is in winter i have not had it go outside but i think it'll end up ok in the long haul. The wheels don't seem all plastic like, almost like a rubber overcoat?

The kids all seem to like it, even my 8yo somehow can squish herself onto it LOL

I think it probably depends somewhat on how much you want to go too..kwim? since ds is the last and he is older i wanted decent but not over the top, things are more costly here so i figured if it lasts him 2yrs then it cost me $50 bucks a yr ..any higher and it would have been to expensive, hopefully it was the right choice for wheels..but the store didn't seem overly worried by my choice & i have dealt with them for years :)

HTH a little bit, maybe try asking Kettler? It's almost like buying a car!
