Dan Rather did a story on them tonight on the news. Evidently they have been made outside of Chicago for all of these years. They are about to displace the workers and go overseas with the making of the product...

They are just following the trend - a lot of manufacturers have left Chicago in the past couple of years!

Yep. Their manufacturing will be in China now. Lori's right; following the trend. It's getting scary!!

It is awful to hear of so many companies moving out of the US.

I saw John Ratzenberger (sp?) on the Wayne Brady show he was talking about his show on the travel channel in which he travels to different cities where products are only made in America. He said that as a country we actually pay more for companies to go overseas because of factors like our taxes going up to support unemployment.

I saw this on the news too. I was sad, but then I also felt a little guilty for having scavenged around for a good deal on my Radio Flyer! I'm sure I didn't make them move to China :) but I often have this dilemna about supporting things like small local businesses when I can go to a larger chain-type store and get things cheaper. I try to do a balance, but it is hard to pay more for something when you know you can get it cheaper elsewhere. Kind of off-topic there, sorry...
