I'd like to find some board books with real pictures of animals. Any suggestions? I saw a recent post with a picture of someone's baby with what looked like cards with animal pictures...that might be interesting too, but my little goat might just eat them now.

Also, has anyone seen this set IRL? Learning Block Books: Numbers, Colors, Shapes, Animals by Susan Estelle Kwas http://tinyurl.com/2bm88

Thanks for your help!

Dorling Kindersly had several picture books that have photos. They also have a touch and feel series (again board) that uses textures such for babies. Both series have animal themed books.

Good luck

Can you get to a Marshall's or TJ Maxx? I've seen tons there - one of Colin's favorites has always been a big board book called My Big Book of Animals.

There's also the "Happy Baby" books (I think Priddy Bicknell is the publisher) that have real pictures of stuff - like the Happy Baby Book of Baby Animals and such.

We have the Learning Block Books and they are great! We got them from Amazon and I have also seen them at Target.

I second the Big Book of Animals and the Priddy Bicknell books. Also, the Baby Einstien Neighborhood Animals books has the real life animals in it. And the cards you might be referring to might also be Baby Einstein. I don't have any, but I know they have flash card/discovery card things and I've thought about purchasing them.

We have the Learning Block Books and, honestly, DS has been so so about them. But, I know that there are a number of babies on this board that absolutely love them. DS's favorite part is dumping the books out and putting them back in the box. However, he has some tiny nursery rhyme board books by McGraw Hill (from Sam's Club) that he adores. For what ever reason he prefers those to the Learning Block Books. However, that price in your link is a really good deal for those.

Other animal books: An interesting one for when she's older is Melissa & Doug's My First Book of Animals Wooden Magnetic book. DS loves this. http://tinyurl.com/2a26v The Baby Einstein books have photographs of real animals. And, if she prefers the tiny board books, Baby Einstein has little board books specific to one animal (dog, cat, etc.) And, the Baby Einstein Traveling Flashcards have lots of animal pictures. This is one of my standard diaper bag items. Overall, our favorite books for real pictures and pointing things out are the ones by DK Publishing. If she's into football, the NFL Animals book is very fun. DS loves everything football, so he thinks that one is exceptional.

I third the Priddy books (Target, TJ Maxx, Marshall's). They are BY FAR dd's faves. We have Happy Baby Words, HB Colors & HB Farm Animals.

Agree with others that TJ Maxx or Marshalls will be a great place to start. An alternative is Baby Einstein's Animal discovery cards. Here is a link to see an item on ebay where they show the actual cards so you can get an idea if you've never seen the cards irl.

I punched a hole on each of the cards and keep them together with a binder ring. I saw the Discover Cards at our Sam's Club yesterday actually for less than $7. HTH some.
