I'm thinking of getting my daughter a wooden rocking horse for her first birthday. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks.

If you do a search in this forum you'll find plenty of recommendations. I posted a question about this last fall. I decided to purchase a horse from an ebay seller - kanebuilt (not sure of spelling).

Here's a link to one of his auctions.

And here is a picture of DD on her horse. The quality is excellent and I would highly recommend the seller.

Thanks, always looking for an excuse to post pictures of DD.

Actually I'm ashamed to admit that I don't have a whole lot of new pics of DD and what I do have is on film, so haven't gotten around to scanning them. I MUST get her 18 month old portrait done soon. She has changed so much since her 1st birthday.

I saw a RF one today at BRU & thought it was cute.

we got the childesigns chestnut jointed horse and love it. vintage look, excellent value. it's the rare thing that is nicer in person than in online photos. it comes with a warranty and i also can't say enough good things about childesigns customer service (haven't had issues with the horse; but they really did right by us on the crib!). do a search on froogle.com for the best price. kmart.com has it, not sure if it is available in their stores though.

Hi,

My cousin bought DH this rocker for his first bday. It is a good horse for a smaller kid (like ds) and I never had to worry about him falling off! This is a very plain model. If you look at the website you will see much more elaborate (and hairy) horses!
The store used to be called Houston Rockers but is now Rocking Horse Depot. Here is the link and a few pics of DS on his horse.
