I saw the posts about the bolt being too short THANKS I thought I was NUTS
so a trip to the hdware store is in order
but the upper part of the belt--I just use the pointy screw and go through the belt and the plastic--ie there are no wholes in the belt and only indentations in the seat--I want to be sure I am doing it right!

Yep, you are doing it right! The belt screws in pretty easily, even without pre-drilled holes.
Instead of going to the hardware store, call Kettler and tell them you don't have the correct bolt for the seat belt. Mine was shipped to me within two days. They definitely won high praise from me for customer service.

thanks so much
DD saw the partially assembled bike and wanted instant gratification if you know what I mean...so waiting till Tuesday to call and then waiting for the bolt LOL would mean lots of whining
I kinda wonder why they haven't collected the kits with defective bolts yet, but at least you guys were here to keep my sanity LOL (okay what's left of it)
