View Full Version : Brio Plan City

Does anyone here have any of the Brio Plan City? The garage, fire station, and airport look like fun, but I have never seen any in real life. It also looks like they can be attached to a track, but I am not sure if this is the same as the Brio train track or a different system. Do the vehicles for the Plan city also fit on the regular train track?

I like the idea of having wooden sets like these, but want to make sure they are functional and long lasting (since they are Brio I am assuming the quality will be high...my parents still have a lot of Brio toys that we had when we were kids).

Any feedback would be great!

Thanks,
Lucia

We have the Plan Airport and the kids love it. It's a wonderfully made toy. It is compatible with Brio/Thomas. HTH

Ah, well despite my love for brio toys..the "love" does not extend to the garage...i'm on my 2nd one & it's broke also but the shop is a long drive so i have not bothered to replace it under the warranty.

The cars are cute, but ds loves to take the wheels off *sigh*..i guess i can't really recommend the garage the quality has not been good and i truely wish i'd not spent the money on it..

I'll add again i am shocked that i even think this because we have had great experience with other brio products & i usually highly recommend them :(

ETA: I should mention that "plan toys" is not actually brio, brio is just their distributor, i know this because a Rep from brio was in the toy shop and told me.

That's too bad about the garage. I saw the garages and a few other buildings at Nordstrom Rack last week and almost picked up the garage, but I'm holding out for the airport. Have you had/heard of any negative experiences with the airport? Thanks.

For anyone who is interested, the deals at the Rack on the buildings, tracks, etc. looked pretty good.

We have the garage, fire house, airport and one other. I bought them all together to get a discount. The quality of them is OK, not great. There are some broken parts. The helicopter, plane and I think a gas pump are broken. Had my expectations not been so high for the quality I would most likely not have any complaints.

The airport and garage hook up to our Target as well as Brio tracks. The cars that came with the garage could travel on the tracks.

Thanks for all of the feedback. Does anyone have/recommend a garage made from wood that is more durable? I think my son would get a kick out of all of the ramps.

Thanks for the feedback. I thought the quality would have been better, so maybe I'll look around for another airport, etc.

We just bought the Costco Train Table set (table and 2 drawers) and it comes with a 101 piece Kidcraft transportation center with 3 level airport, helipad, train station, bus station. Haven't opened it yet so can't comment on quality but if you are looking for a table also, this is a really good deal.

Thanks for the tip--we'll want a train table too, eventually, so this sounds great! We'll check it out this weekend.

Thanks, Pamela!

We don't even really need this for another year or so, but I'm always on the lookout for good deals and don't mind buying ahead.

Do you mind sharing how much you paid for it?

It was $120 and includes the KidKraft Train Table and 2 full size trundle drawers in natural color, a playboard, plus a 101 piece transportation set. The table is the one shown here but with a different play board:

http://www.mytoybox.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=KKSET&Category_Code=kktraintables&Product_Count=0

The play set is comparable to this one but a different theme:

http://www.mytoybox.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=KK17429&Category_Code=kktraintables&Product_Count=3

We were very pleased with the quality of the table and drawers. We just pulled out a few toy pieces and haven't opened the buildings yet. I'm sure it's not Brio quality but I'm happy with the price even without the transportation set.

Oh, the box is heavy! I'm glad I waited for DH's help. Box is roughly 3'x50" and about 5" thick.

Let me know if I can answer any other questions.
