I keep hearing about the vtech phone is various posts. Is this what you are talking about?

I'm trying to come up with a list of inexpensive toys for DS's birthday that friends/family can buy. Is this the phone that is at Target? I don't have a Target where I live (bummer) so I need to give specific instructions to my family.

I'm not quite sure if that is the phone or not, I have a different one that looks like a traditional desk phone and I can tell that thing is annoying as heck.

I will say that one thing that C got as a 1st birthday gift is the Vtech piano. Sorry for the long link, I'm not familiar with using tiny url.

Its a few dollars more but he really enjoys playing with this thing. What is really cute is that it has a real microphone attached and that he will "sing" into it.

HTH!

I'm not sure what V-Tech phone people are talking about either, but the desk model is so annoying. I would definitely avoid that one.

Some possibilities for friend and family are:

Balls (any ball will work, but Gertie balls are nice)
Vehicles (maybe an LT Handle Hauler)
Shape Sorter (I like the Tupperware Shape-O)
Wooden Puzzles
Leapfrog Phonics Radio (DS was obsessed with this thing for awhile)
FP Tappy the Turtle
Little People sets
Board books
CDs
Small bead maze
Push toy
Pull toy

Good luck!

we have this one.... http://tinyurl.com/6utep. they are all pretty loud and annoying though! DS prefers the real thing anyway.

deidra, just figured it... if you go to www.tinyurl.com you can type in your long url and it will change it for you. pretty easy!

Lol, thanks everyone! I will nix the idea of the VTech phone. So glad I asked! I copied the list you gave me and emailed it to my mom.
Thanks again.
