I know there was a detailed discussion about the differences between the old and new kitchen, but does anyone know anything about the two models of the workshop? I've seen both of them in the store and we want to get one of them for Conner's 1st birthday (on Thursday) but we're not sure which one to get. We already got him the old version of the kitchen and playstore when that awesome deal was going around. Any one compared both or have either of them? Here's some pictures of them.

I had both versions of the kitchen, and besides the electronics, one thing that I like is that there are fewer small pieces to lose, ie there a more activities that are built in to the unit itself. It looks to me from these 2 pics that this may also be the case for the workshop

I have the old version of the workshop (and kitchen too). I checked out the new versions of both at Target yesterday. As the PP said, the new version does have less pieces that can be taken off. Both have electronic sounds, but the new one has lights too. The newer versions also have a smaller overall size.

I like the old version better because it has all the pieces like the stacking cups and drawers, which are what DD loves the most about it. The older version also seems a little more "like daddy's" if YKWIM.

I prefer all of the older versions. Although it can be a pain to keep track of the pieces, over time those are my DS's favorite activities: the ball drop, opening + closing the doors, putting pieces in the compartments, taking things out of the bucket, etc. The new ones look a bit glitzy + IMO toys are too electronic for an age when it's not neccessary. HTH!
