My sister remembers this book and has been looking for it for a while. Unfortunately we can't figure out what book it's actually in.

She remembers the family visits Europe (Rome?) and jumps in a fountain. Since nephew jay loves fountains, I thought it would be a great gift for both of them.

Can anyone shed some light for us?

Does this sound like the book you remember?

"In 1965 Richard Scarry's Busy, Busy World appeared, a detailed work of drawings and thirty-three stories set in different parts of the world."

From another review:
"These are great stories, with wonderful funny illustrations (you have not lived until you've read Good Luck in Rome, complete with pasta-flying, gelato-spilling traffic chaos sound effects, to small children) and the book actually encourages an interest in other countries and cultures."

Unfortunately, it's out of print, but you can buy used copies for about $50 (ouch!) through www.abebooks.com. Here's a link to the used copies I found:

If you don't want to spend the $$$ for Busy, Busy, World, you can try Richard Scarry's Best Storybook Ever, which reprints some of the travel stories from Busy, Busy, World (and other stories from other books). I don't have it in front of me, so I'm not sure whether the Rome one is included. Here's the Amazon link:

$11.16 for 288 pages of Richard Scarry seems like a bargain to me!

I will investigate these suggestions further.

Thanks again for your help.
