For those of you with smaller homes, where do you find room for your child's train table? My DS loves the train table at our local bookstore + we'd love to get him one for the holidays but I just don't think we have enough room. We have a kitchen/family room combination which is a decent size but not large by any means. The other option would be DS's room but I have the feeling he will spend a lot of time with this so I don't know if that would work. What do you do?

We put our coffee table in storage and the train table is in its spot right now.

The only downside to that is that we have to remember to put our snacks away at the end of the night, or Colwyn finds them in the morning. ;)

I have wondered the same thing. I don't think I want DS in his room alone playing at this age, because it is the furthest away from the main living area. But his room is the only place where there is enough room for the train table... so despite my interest, we haven't gotten one for my guy either.

We keeps ours in my sons room but one product that would be worth a look is the newer trundle table by Thomas{learning curve} while it's still not cheap it is meant to store under a bed, yet still gives the child a firm surface for train play.

Also FWIW, brio train table are smaller than nilo or Thomas ;)

That's what we've done. I figure I don't cringe everytime a metal motorized train clunks down on it as much as I would if it were our coffee table.

I had a hard time with this at first, but it keeps DD busy so it's all good!

Thanks for the suggestion. We might have to use the train table as a coffee table in our family room. Our house is beginning to look like a daycare center anyway! Whenever we are out + about, my DS loves to play with trains. I'm hoping he will be as interested with his own set.
