I'm going to be traveling for 6 days with DD to FL in the second week of November and for 13 days to CA in December. Now that she's started solids, I'd like to be able to bring a booster chair with us (we're flying both times), rather than asking people at our destinations to have high chairs or booster chairs. Does anyone know of a decent booster chair that folds up compactly enough so that I could wrap it and check it in as luggage (or maybe even stash it in our suitcase?)?

Thanks!

We've used two different ones, one at home for a while and the other while on vacation. Honestly, the second was only $15 at Wal-Mart, so I didn't even haul ours, I just bought one when I got there and left it behind. You might also look at hook-on high chairs; they tend to fold more compactly, I believe, but are more expensive.

Both of the chairs that I used were perfectly adequate for the purpose. Considering you are only using it for 3 weeks, I'd just go with the cheapest that you can find with a tray.

This is the one that we used at home for about 6 months:

And this looks similar to the one we used at SIL's house for a week:

I have traveled several times with the FP healthy care booster. I cannot say enough good things about the chair, and it you do a search you will find many people share my opinion. The FP chair is very compact and fits neatly into a suitcase. The rest of the time it lives in the car and we use it when restaurant high chairs are yucky. I also love the cover that is comes with. When we are out I just pop the cover over the dirty tray and wash it when we get home.

I agree, the seat Lori mentioned above (used @ her SIL's house) is really good. My mother bought an older model for $5.00 at a garage sale and we use it at her house all the time. You'll be happy with it if you buy it.

Here's another option for you:

It's a self-inflating booster seat. While not as beefy as others, it's very compact, light (important when you're traveling by air) and does the job just fine. I bought it when my DD was an infant (she's now 3) and still use it to this day for my 20 month old.

HTH!

Thanks for the suggestions. I was toying with the idea of getting a Me Too portable high chair, but they're pretty pricey. I may do as you suggest and just buy a cheapie at my destination. I'll also take a look at the FB Healthy Care Booster when I go to Toys R Us.

We don't even have a high chair, we just use the FP healthy care booster, its a fabulous seat. DS seems to like it fine, and it folds up pretty compactly.

I have the first seat the Lori shows in her post and it does fold up pretty good. I bought it to keep at the babysitter's house and take with us on the few times we go out of town. The FP Healthy Care looks like a great seat, but from the photos, I think the one I have folds up more compactly if you are planning to put it in your suitcase. However, attaching the tray in the folded position is a little annoying until you get the hang of it. You have to make sure you use the little tabs or else the tray will just fall off.
