I am trying to find the best high chair. I thought about waiting until I need one but I also wanted to register for one. I really don't want to have to worry about taking it back if someone buys one for me. I am thinking...
FP-Health one but both that I've seen have those ruffles

I really like the Eddie Bayer one but I want one with a 5 point harness and that reclines so we can use it for those first solid feeding at 4 months. What do you girls suggest?

Just FYI, solids at four months is an old recommendation. Now they recommend you wait until around six months, since that delay leads to lower rates of childhood obesity and diabetes. A lot of pediatricians aren't up to date on that change, though, so you may want to read up on it for yourself.
I can't help you much on a high chair recommendation; we waited until my son was starting to show signs of being ready for solids to look for one, and we bought the Fisher Price booster seat instead. It has a tray, he's doing a good job sitting up supported now (so it doesn't need to recline), it doesn't take up extra space in our apartment, and we can fold it up to take it with us to visit friends or family or to go to a restaurant. We're happy with it so far. (Just started solids three days ago; we'd have waited longer, but he was making it clear he was ready.)

Really my sister just started her daughter on solids. I went to the doctor with her. It was recommended by the doctor? Where do I go to read up on this?
As the high chairs go, the baby bargains book it says that FP makes a model without fringe on the chair. BRU doesn't seem to have it.

This is a site written by a pediatrician, and gives good information on this and many other subjects. The particular page I've linked to gives information on choosing when to start giving solids based on the baby, rather than the calendar; it's a lot easier for many pediatricians to look at the calendar and tell you to start solids than to observe the baby to see whether they're ready.
For the high chairs, you might check online. I know BRU doesn't always carry a full complement of any given item; and the details of baby products are changing constantly, so it's possible the one without the fringe is no longer being made.

You could also check the American Academy of Pediatrics website. It is a relatively new rec. Our ped said if your son was really super interested in our food, to go ahead and try rice cereal between 4 and 6 mos, just once a day. Our little guy wasn't interested, so we waited until 6 mos to start trying solids out.

We just bought the FP highchair w/o ruffles at Target called Funny Butterfly. Target is only one that carries that design.

As for solids, you shouldn't feed solids until 6 months, that's the latest word from AAP. Check their website. Also, make sure you always feed in the upright position due to potential choking!
good luck

Thanks ladies for your help. I think that we will by the FP one at Target. I went and looked at it and loved that it was simple. I also appreciate the advise on the 6 month feeding. What a good question it will be when I start interviewing potential ped...
