hmm, seems like everyone is focusing on holiday gifts right now. But I figure if i can narrow this down, i may be able to ask for it for xmas from someone.

Does anyone have the Eddie Bauer wooden high chair? DH wants to get a wooden high chair to match out dining room table, but are they safe and comfy and easy to clean? i saw the eddie bauer one online at BRU and it looked nice and got decent reviews. But I thought we would get the primo pappa high chair. I'm kind of planning ahead as my baby isn't on solids yet, but his 4mon DA is coming up in 2 weeks and i want to have an idea just in case. I dont think i am ready to introduce solids yet. it means he's growing up too quickly.

Any recos?

TIA

There are a lot of high chair reviews on the boards (you can search for them). I have the Prima Pappa and hated it - hard to clean, tray sits too high and too far away from baby (and I have a tall kiddo), and there are plenty of chairs with the same features for half the price out there.

I have the Fisher Price Healthy Care Linkadoos High Chair and LOVE it (although I doubt it would match ANYONE'S dining room - LOL!!) It's great because it has three tray inserts that pop into the main tray - the tray inserts can all be washed in the dishwasher. I didn't realize how much I loved this feature until I went to visit my sister and DS used a borrowed highchair without the inserts and I was handwashing the tray after every meal and snack!! The chair cover is also very easy to clean - can be wiped down for small spills or put in the washer AND dryer (not always the case, surprisingly!) for the big messes. It also folds relatively flat - we were even able to throw it in the back of our SUV on top of our luggage for vacation this past summer. HTH!

(Oh, and I agree with the PP - there are lots of posts about highchair recommendations - maybe in the Feeding Baby thread?)

A good way to find a highchair is to bring your baby to the store and have him "test drive" the different chairs. All the features in the world aren't going to make any difference if your child doesn't fit in the chair!

I have the Chicco Mamma and hate it for some of the reasons Lori stated--the tray is too high and too far away. My ds is always getting his clothes dirty when he eats because the food falls down in between him and the tray.

We have the Eddie Bauer wooden highchair. We got it when ds was 14 months so I can't help on how it would work with a younger baby.

We are quite happy with it. It's not hard to keep clean--we took the padding off to wash it and realized ds didn't miss it at all so we left it off. I just wipe the chair down with a damp paper towel. It is quite sturdy which was important to us as ds is big for his age and very active/strong. We don't use the parent swing out trays as he can reach them. And I stopped using the insert shortly after purchase as he can take it out.

I have a Prima Pappa in tan leatherette and LOVE IT!
I heard many different opinions regarding PP Prima Pappa, fortunately decided to give it a try and I don't regret a second.
The cleaning is so easy, my DS is so comfortable, he loves sitting in the chair.
I'm glad that I didn't go with FP, my friend has it and hates it. I tried it in her house, it's just uncomparable with PP.
Go to the stores and try them all!
