I met Kristie of Snazzybaby at a sample sale dealy a while back and bought so many things from her there. I neglected to buy a shopping cart cover at the time and have been kicking myself every since. I just talked to Kristie and she is doing a 50% off sale for some of her covers. They are incredibly well-made and just gorgeous with the chenille on the underside, carrying handle, etc.

She also has the infant carseat covers on sale, too. I have give then blue silkie and springtime bouquets as gifts which were received very well.

I think you can only get to the sale page through this link...

I don't think this sale will last longer than the 24th, if that, and everything is apparently ready to ship the next business day. I'm planning on stocking up on gifts-- these are one of my all-time favorite things to give.)

I hope someone else can use this. (I'm getting both the Relaxing surf and the Cherry Blossom :).)

Are the car seat covers REALLY safe? I mean, everything I have ever heard is that you should not put anything between the baby and the straps. Does the cover take the place of the cover that came with the seat or deos it go over the standard cover? Also, how does it affect the warranty of the car seat (if applicable)?
Thanks for the help.

That's a great deal - thanks for sharing the link! I'm tempted...

To be honest, I don't know. The carseat covers are not very padded and we would put it on top of the existing cover. They do not go between the babe and the straps, so I can't figure out how it would affect the seat performance, but I honestly don't know. It couldn't hurt to email or call Kristie at Snazzybaby or your carseat's manufacturer.

the concern about aftermarket car seat covers is whether they are flame retardant like the ones on the actual car seat.

In an accident where there is fire, I would suspect that the fabric would melt and/or burn quickly causing injuries. The covers that come on car seats are designed to resist flame and not melt/ignite.

What about the "shower cap" car seat covers that everyone uses (especially during the winter)? We used one for my first son and I never thought about it being flame retardant, just warm enough to prevent us from needing to wrap him up in blankets in the car seat.

I have been looking at the Snazzybaby car seat covers and think that they are really beautiful. We do not know if we are having a boy or a girl in a few weeks and I was thinking that if these are safe, I would like to get one to use (if it is a girl) as oppossed to the very dark and plain one we have.

Any thoughts on the matter? What would you do...?

Thanks,
Mariah P.

Not to detract from the PP's excitement, but someone posted about Snazzy Baby's horrid CS in the Lounge a while back: http://www.windsorpeak.com/dc/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=16&topic_id=1373&mode=full&page=

Due to that and older posts I've read here about Kristie's bad CS I've been hesitant to shop there unless she had a SUPER sale so thank you for posting this! I hope she's got the CS issues worked out by now though b/c they sure are cute covers!

Oh darn, I just saw that the fabric I like in the cart cover isn't on sale!! :( But I guess even at $54 it's still a little pricey for me anyways... SewCuteBoutique & Covers4Kids are still cheaper & customizable with any fabric AND they're WAHMs... Oh, I hate sour grapes! :P
