I've been cleaning out DS toys and realized that a lot of the toys are no longer age appropriate and also that he doesn't play with. I am looking for advice of the best toys that your DS at that age loved. Space is an issue so I can't buy too many toys. I found that he's not really into LP. We have a few (the farm, zoo, Noah's ark) but he never really plays with it. I greatly appreciate any advice you have. Thanks in advance!

Kayla loves peg puzzles. I get them for $2.97 each at Wally World. She's also really into pretend. Maybe play foods, play tool set, play vacuum? Stacking and building are also things she likes to do... Some blocks, a shape sorter? She loves the one from Tupperware...the same blue and red one like I had as a kid.

I would also recommend the magnadoodle, but be sure to get the one with shapes. Ours has the shapes in a drawer and my son LOVES it. He got it for Christmas (20 months) and it was his favorite gift. We have to take it nearly everywhere. He even takes it to bed with him.

The other thing my son loves are the Tonka Town Friends Collection vehicles (a little bit bigger than matchbox). The cars have faces on the front and are more appealing to toddlers than matchbox cars. We get them at Target or Kohls and they are very inexpensive. A set of 4 is generally $4.99. Since they don't fit in a traditional matchbox car case we got him a little plastic tackle box to put them in. We have the little people garage and he loves to run them down the ramps.

DS also love the Music Blocks he got (made by Neurosmith) for Christmas. They went out of business so you can get this very cheap right now. You can see it at Amazon (but I have seen it at Target and other stores much cheaper. The one I bought was $14.99)

Another toy DS got for Christmas that he loves is Travelin' Bubble Car Garage. Here is what the description says: In, out, all about...that's where tots take our travelin' tunnel! Open it up to access the intriguing six-door passage, play mat highway, and three chunky bubble cars. Perfect for little hands. So lightweight, your tot will carry it himself. Easy hook and loop closures. For ages 18 months and up. Imported. You can buy it on sale at One Step Ahead for $15.99. I have attached a picture.

DS is also just starting to really get into his little people now that he has turned 21 months. So, don't give up on them yet.

I hope you find some toys that will help you out here! Best wishes.

Wooden puzzles, blocks (like Megablocks), tonka-type trucks, wooden trains and train tracks (take up lots of space when set up, but we put them away each night, so pretty manageable). Finger puppets - Ikea has a set of six that is pretty inexpensive ($8, I think).

Colin wasn't into LP at that age, either, but boy has that changed in the last month or so!! He's a LP nut now! So don't give up hope on those.
