Is it better to use a portable booster or a hook on a chair when eating out at diners/restaurants? I have a 6 month old.

Depends on where you eat, really. Portable boosters shouldn't be used in booths, and hook on chairs shouldn't be used on pedestal tables (ones with one central leg to support the top)...

I found it best to get a high chair cover and use whatever chair the restaurant provides.

I have both and use them for certain situations. However most of the time we just use the restaurants (unless they are really yucky or broken down).

The hook on chair we have is from OneStepAhead and we really like it.

The booster we have is the FisherPrice Healthy Care booster and we like that a lot too.

At restaurants, we just use the highchair or booster they have there as long as it's clean and safe.

I just ordered the Cooshie Booster today to take to family and friends houses where a highchair or booster is not available. So far DS #1 still likes his highchair (even though he's sharing with DS #2) ... but not sure how much longer that will last.
