Hi everyone,

I was reading some of the posts here, and there were a few people who said what a pain it was to have to remove the changing table attachment on their Pack 'n Plays in order to use the bassinet part -- so much so that they didn't really use the changing part at all because it was so clumsy and awkward to find a place for it when it wasn't in use. I think that there are some versions of the Pack 'n Play where you don't have to remove the changing part to use the bassinet (?), but anyway, I found the Compass portacrib online:

http://www.dreamtimebaby.com/dreamtimebaby/cofodeplbawi.html

The changing table part flips over the side when you're not using it, but it remains attached to the playpen frame, so you don't have to worry about storing it somewhere. I don't know if anyone else has heard of this or used it, I just thought it might be a helpful alternative to the Graco (it has definitely replaced the PNP on my list, especially because I think the newest ones look silly with the elevated changer and the canopy with the bears hanging on it). Plus, it has a big storage basket on the side for diapers/wipes/Desitin (seen in this photo: http://www.compassbaby.com/product_P100.html) and the green color (first picture) is very pretty. :)

Hope this helps someone.

I've never heard of that before -- having to remove the changing table to gt to the bassinet. I've had my PNP since 2002 and am using it now with my second child - no problems. The changing tab;e is to the left of the PNP and the bassinet is to the right. There is part that overlaps -- that's where I hide his P.J.'s but nothing signig=ficant.

Colleen,
Most of the newer PNPs have a full length bassinet, so the changing table part sits over half of it. It sounds like yours has a half-bassinet that sits beside the changing table.

that changing table looks very low. I am sure it would hurt my back.

I never had to remove the changing table to get to the bassinet. I just put her on the side not covered by the changing table. The bassinet is only good to 15 pounds anyway, so baby isn't rolling or kicking or anything like that. I just slipped her feet under the changing table side as she got longer.

Here is the one I have

I did what Karen did as well, and it worked just fine.
