Please Help- gift for a 1 year old boy

DH and I were invited to a co-workers sons birthday party. I want to get him a nice gift, but I am clueless as to what it should be. Can any mom's of boys help me out and let me know what would be a good gift. I'm told he has tons of clothes, so I didn't want to buy him more. Thanks so much! Natalie

DS got a huge dump truck for his first b-day that he still loves. Also, maybe some Melissa and Doug big knob puzzles. They are usually 4.99 at TJ Maxx, Marshalls, etc. You could get him a couple of those??? hth
