DS got the Down at the Docks set for Christmas-our first venture into Thomasdom. Thomas does not seem to function properly and am wondering if anyone else has had this problem. Anytime he has to go up an incline he gets stuck. His wheels go round and round and he goes nowhere until we give him a little boost or "help". Initially it wasn't an issue but now that Jack is spending more time at the table it is a pain in the you know what to give him a boost everytime he rounds the table.
Am wondering if anyone else has had this issue. He does this even with fresh batteries. Should I ask for a new one or is this just part of the deal? TIA.

How many cars is he pulling when he gets stuck? If he's not pulling many or any, then he sounds defective - our battery operated Thomas does fine unless he's pulling a looooong train.

And I assume that you are talking about the wooden Thomas set.

Yes, he is wooden and no he is not pulling anyone. I will definately get him replaced.

Same, he can make it up the incline if it is just him or him and the only other car we have :)

we have the same issue. I got the train table from Costco and bought a battery powered Thomas separately. He can't make it up the incline if he is pulling even one car. He gets stuck on curves too, but I added the clips to keep the track together and he does better on the curves.

We have a bunch of "industrial type" batteries and have wondered if maybe that is it. I may try some Duracells.

Yes! We switched from rechargeable to regular batteries + the engine moves at full speed now. Good luck!
