I know, like me, many of you have been searching for the perfect gift for your child's birthday. Well I received a catalog in the mail last night called Creative Diversity and there are so many cool musical instruments in there from around the world. If you have ever attended a Gymboree Music Class, many of the unique instruments they use are in this magazine! I had the thought to fill a basket full of musical instruments that Eva might enjoy and keep it in her room. All the kids love playing with the big bucket of instruments at the end of music class so I thought that many kids would probably love having something similar at home.
The magazine did have one pre-made basket full of instruments although it is really set up for class room use because there are four of everything and not a lot of variety. Here is a picture of their pre-made basket:

The good news is that you can buy one of those great African baskets for $20 from the catalog!

Some of Eva's favorites from music class are the hand flip drum, stir drum, one bell jingle and wood agagos.
I also found may other musical instruments made by Doug and Melissa that are popular in music class including wooden rhythm sticks and wooden clackers.
This is a work in progress, but I got really excited about building this for Eva's birthday and thought I would pass the idea along in case there are any other interested moms out there!
