My sister gave me "Under the Chinaberry Tree: Books and Inspirations for Mindful Parenting." I haven't read it recently (need to pull it out again), but have really enjoyed it so far.

I really like "The Read Aloud Handbook".

Another good one is "Reading Magic" by Mem Fox. Its not as comprehensive as "The Read Aloud Handbook", but I think its a good companion to it.

The Read Aloud Handbook is my bible. Not all books read aloud well. One of my favorite books is the Boxcar Children but have never been able to read it aloud to my class. This one is tried and true. Thanks for the other suggestions.
