View Full Version : ISO: Bjorn-type carrier or sling for toddler to use with dolls

DD found our Bjorn in the closet, and now she wants to wear her dolls in it. It's much too big for her, of course, which leads to a lot of frustration on her part. Can anyone suggest a good baby carrier for a toddler to use with dolls? Her dolls are all 14" or smaller right now, so it doesn't need to be huge. I don't have any slings, but am open to getting a doll sling for DD to use (if I could figure it out :-)). Any suggestions would be appreciated. Oh, and she likes to wear her babies on her front, rather than on her back or hip. Thanks in advance!

How cute! DD has started putting her dolls or stuffed animals down the collar of her shirt with their heads sticking out (she says "Like Kanga and Roo") so I'm hoping someone here will have some ideas because I'm looking for something also, her shirts are getting all stretched out in the neck!

Sorry I don't have any recommendations, just thought it was cute that your DD wants to carry her dolls in the Bjorn, I can just imagine a two year old trying to wear one :-)

I know you can wear a baby/doll on your front with a pouch sling, I did it all the time with my dd. A lot of wahms make them.

Here are a few links (I haven't bought from any of them though!)

If you or anyone you know sews here is a pattern to make one:
http://www.getcreativeshow.com/Crafting_Sewing_Conference_Center/craft_sewing_seminars/doll_sling.htm

Or if you want to skip the rings just measure around her body and over one shoulder and double that and sew the fabric in a tube. It's non adjustable but it's a simple pouch sling.

Here I am shamelessly trying to pitch the Waldorf Doll co-op again, but Joys Waldorf Dolls makes a children's sling. It would be about $12 with the co-op discount.

Someone on the babywearing swap group just emailed this site to me (as an alternative to the Kozy). I saw this and remembered your post:

Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but I didn't see it mentioned in the other posts so I thought I'd throw it out there for you.

The dates to order are March 1st through the 17th. The orders will be processed after the 17th when Joy can go through and figure out the discounts. It isn't a blanket discount. Depending on what you order we (as a group) need buy either a certain number or a certain dollar amount to get the various discount.

Here is the link to the original thread with all the info.

My dd has that carrier and loves it. She didn't care for it for some time and then one day I saw her trying to put her monkey (lovey) in my Bjorn and walk around with it. It was great that I had the carrier put away...she was thrilled to have something to carry around her "baby."

I have many friends with mini slings, etc. for their toddlers and they are also really cute.

Good luck

That sounds like the cheapest option with the $10 off code that is still good until 3/31.

137807 off order of $10.01 or more.

Here is a free ship code but not sure you can force it to stack codes, 345028.

Thanks for the code, Jackie! I think the American Girl carrier is our best bet, though I love all the slings. DD wants things to be "just like Mommy's," so I don't know that she would take to a sling. Thanks for all the replies!

I can't get that code to work. It says it is invalid. I am entering it where it says "Enter key code or promotional code (optional)", is that right?

Yes, thats the right code. It is supposed to be good through March 31.

ETA: I just tried it and it just worked for me. The box is just labeled "Promotional Code" and is on the page before the final purchase page.

I made a sling recently for dd. It was a lot of fun, and she has been enjoying using it. If you haven't found anything, these are fairly simple to make. I am trying to attach a photo so you can see it.

How big is it? My DD is only about 31" tall at 2 years, so I'm wondering if it would be too big for her.
