I have bought some more track and bridges to expand on our moutain tunnel set but it is not enough to make the layout we want...what are the pros/cons of continuing w/ Thomas track or is it ok to mix? I was thinking of using non-thomas track from Target or Imaginarium.

We have mixed without any problems. Most of our tracks are the cheap ones but we have added some Thomas stuff. I recently purchased some of the Wacky Track to get the right layout. It works great when you just can't seem to get things right. I think Jackson will also enjoy it down the road because it can do fun things.

We mix ours and for the most part they go together just fine.

We use a mix too, and for the most part it is fine. The one thing with the tunnels on non-Thomas sets, though, is that some of the taller Thomas trains will not fit through them - just something to keep in mind.

Also, sometimes the tracks don't fit together that smoothly. Our cheapo tracks have sort of a ball that fits into a notch. The Thomas tracks don't have ball, it's more of a tongue. Sometimes it's really hard to squeeze tracks together. I cracked one track when pulling it apart.
