Gift for 5 yo boy?

Anyone have any advice? We're going to a boys B-day party and with a 2 yo girl I have NO CLUE what to get!

When I don't know what to get I always fall back on my favorite gift - books! Probably any nicely illustrated, easy to read hardcover would be appreciated. I just bought a gift last week for a little girl who is 5 and learning to read. It was a My First Dictionary and all the words had really nice pictures next to it.

Other than that, I have NO idea what 5 year old boys are in to, LOL! Sorry I'm not more help.

My nephew (just turned 5) is really into:
Hockey (you can get a set of 2 sticks to hit back and forth)
Lacrosse (you can get a set of 2 sticks to throw)
Basically any sport with a ball
Spiderman
Football related things (jersey's, hats, figures)

He is the lone boy with 4 girls, so everyone pushes BOY things to him.

Books, etc, he is not into since he never sits still for every long. He will listen to bedtime books, but that is a procrastination technique I think sometimes.

My brother is five, and wow, is he into Rescue Heroes! He has a whole collection, and it keeps on growing! That is the first thing that comes to mind for a 5-7 year old boy. Here are some, just to give you an idea:

You can get them at Target, Walmart, etc. The prices at Amazon seem a little high; I have seen them at my local BJs for $7-8.
