I was wondering if anyone had bought an upholstered rocking chair for their dc. I'm looking for one that is solid and won't tip over. I found a really nice one at a $$ boutique for $100. It was by Lambs & Ivy. However I found a $39 one from Lambs & Ivy at TJ Maxx but it wasn't the same quality. it was very flimsy and the rockers on the bottom were made of plastic.
I also found an online company called Toddle Rock and their's look very nice. Has anyone had any dealings with them.
The one from Osh Kosh is supposed to be very nice and sturdy. However I was looking at online reviews at Amazon.com and found that while people really liked it, the chair was smelly and had a chemical smell. Well come to find out, there had been a mistake where they sprayed it with pesticides (which they always do, I'm not sure how I feel about that) and then packaged them for shipping without letting the chemicals dry. This caused it to absorb into the batting on the chair, which made it smell permanently. The thing that upset me so much about this is that the company knew and did not recall the chairs. One woman was writting how she was pregnant for her 2nd child and had to be checked with Level II u/s's because of the exposure. Hello!!!??? and still no recall??? The idea that my dd could be crawling all over that chair really upset me. So, any suggestions except that chair. Thanks LJ
Does anyone have the one from the HomeGoods store. I saw one listed on their website for $39. If so how is it holding up?
Thanks Again,
LJ

For Christmas, we got upholstered rocking chairs for my 2 little ones. Someone on here posted about these, and they are top quality!! Very, very well made. Even my husband agreed that these were the best things I have ever purchased. I believe they were around $50, and well worth every penny. Anyway, here is the link www.toddlerock.com

I bought my DD one for her first b-day. I got it The Right Start but it was made by a local woman. What a great purchase! DD absolutely loves it and uses it every day. Sorry though, no experience with any of the ones you mentioned.

Thanks for the replies. I finally ordered the rocker from Toddle Rock. It is beautiful. It is so solid, just like a real piece of furniture, there is no way that is ever going to tip over. It's also just the right size for her. I'm glad I got it now, because I want her to get the most use out of it, as it is on the small side. Which I knew ahead of time. It's just perfect. Thanks for the recommendation.

Wow, these are great!

Do you think it would be too small for an 18 mo. My ds is on the small side (22lbs, 30ish inches). I know he would LOVE his own chair.

Thanks!

I think I am late chiming in here, but we have an upholstered rocker that my mom bought at Home Goods before DS was born and I love it. I can't find on on their werb site, so I am not sure if it the same one you mentioned. DS's has is in muted red and yellow tones with an old-fashioned firetruck on the back and smaller drawings of old-fashioned trucks, bikes, etc. all over. The rockers are wooden. My mom said it was a real bargain, so $39 may have been the price. We opted to be surprised about our baby's gender, so my mom also picked up the girl version of the rocker, which is a beautiful patchwork-ish toile. My mom thought she or I could use it as a gift for someone else who had a girl, but I liked it so much that it is in my attic in case I have a girl next go-around! :)

Ds has had his since the beginning and loves to climb in and out of it. :)

My dd is 25.5 lbs and at least 30 inches. I'm sure she will get at least a couple of years. I believe the website said it was good for a child of up to 3 or 4 yrs. They also have a testimonial page with pictures of older(at least 3 yr olds) children sitting in them.
I checked out our Home Goods store and they unfortunately didn't carry them.

Just wanted to add my review here also.

We bought a ToddleRock chair last week for our 18 mo ds. The shipping was timely and the chair is well made. I was a little surprised to find that I would have to attach the rockers on the chair myself (although I do vaguely remember reading that on the site), but was able to do it easily.

This is now ds's favorite place to sit while watching his Signing Time videos.

Thanks for pointing us to this website!
