Are there any city dwellers out there who have been able to find a baby monitor that doesn't pick up your neighbor's phone calls? If so, which one?

We love our 27 channel SOny Baby Call. I've never had an issue with neighbors phone. I've never even had to change the channel. http://tinyurl.com/9hfno

Unfortunately, the Sony is the monitor we tried first. We've picked up neighbor's phone calls on at least 4 of the channels, and on the other 7 we get these sudden blasts of noise. We are still testing the other channels, but I'm doubtful...

I was going to suggest the sony as well. Maybe you have a bad one? We have used this monitor everywhere without a problem.

It was the only one that worked for us and we tried 4 or 5...

I'm not sure there is really answer to this because it's just an unfortunate fact of life that baby monitors and cordless phones run on the same frequencies. However, we've been using the First years 2.4 gz and haven't had any problems whatsoever. I think it's this one:

Hope this helps.

Unfortunately, I had that one for two days and every time I turned it on, it cut off our wireless Internet access! Since we are in a single family home, it was easy to find the culprit...but it might not be a friendly neighborly thing to use in an apartment building (lol).

We have the same one in a 900mHz frequency now and it's fine. If the base is not turned on and I turn on the handset I do hear conversations, TV etc...but that just tells me I need to go turn the base on, no big deal.

Good luck!

Best,
Mary

That's very interesting, because our monitor doesn't affect our wireless network at all. But I've discovered that when I use a certain cordless phone in my house it cuts out our wireless network. I think it's 2.4 gz phone, but it's one of those ones that you can have 4 phones working off of one base. Weird.

We have four vertical floors of living space, and this monitor has worked well for us.

We've had no problems with the Fisher Price Sound and Lights. We have an older version from 2 years ago.

I think the fact that this is only 49 mHz makes it less likely to pick up all the 900 mHz + cordless phones and such. It only has 2 channels but we've found that's all we need.
