We just got DS (3yo) all 4 sets (expensive at about $75 total) but it was for his b-day and well worth it. This set is practically indestructable and there are no metal parts so no rust! The train wheels actual move like a real train's would and the headlamps "flick" on and off with the movement. He loves mixing and matching the parts too coming up with all sorts of "franken-Thomas." There are lots of other Duplo pieces to make up the buildings but he just builds whatever he wants with them. The track is very easy to put together and fits in lots of different configurations...it seems to be more flexible than wooden tracks and it's larger so there is more "bend" to them so DS can get a complete circuit most of the time no matter how he puts them together.

It does seem that when I put the buildings together, he just pulls them apart and builds what he wants with them. I know that's the point of Lego, but it would be nice to be able to buy just the trains and tracks only and then a separate set of plain blocks.
