Safety of tiny love Gymini play mat?

I have this and was wondering if any of you think it is wierd that some of the animals attached have the plastic eyes? Are these safe?

Odd, I was just thinking about that today!

My son is currently in love with the monkey from his Gymini, which happens to have plastic eyes. I tried to see how they are attached, and couldn't figure out a way they could come off, but it's still in the back of my mind.

Surely we can't be the only people to have noticed that...

I believe the safety eyes are backed with huge washers so the eyes are very unlikely to go anywhere. I know I had a hard time even prying the edge up when I was checking them out.
