I bought my son a shopping cart that came with cheap plastic food last night. He LOVES it ... but I don't think it's going to last very long. Any suggestions? I'm concerned with choking hazards.

We have a basic set from Melissa and Doug that is rice, milk, ketchup, etc. All larger packages and those would work. We got ours at Toys R Us. The Melissa and Doug cutting fruit and veggies and the pizza would all have small parts that would probably be a hazard.

Thanks Heidi! The only one I've seen IRL is the cutting foods one (at Boscov's) and there was no way ... the pieces were way too small! So I wasn't sure about other sets. Now I'm going to have to search some of them out! Thanks again!

I just noticed that www.creativebrainsonline.com has the M&D sets in their summer clearance section. Great prices!

We have yet to get the M&D food ourselves. For now, DS is perfectly happy with empty yogurt containers, various condiments, and a box of mac&cheese that makes a great noise!
