I'm tempted to get a video monitor so I could keep an eye on my napping child. Any recommendations? They are pricey so I don't want to get one only to find I really can't get a picture.

I've been shopping around for one too. I read some good reviews for the MobiCam on Amazon.com. It's a wireless camera system with handheld color receiver. It will accommodate up to 3 cameras per receiver, both indoor and outdoor cameras. So, it can also double as a security cam if you want that.

I liked this one because with child #2 on the way, I like the option of being able to add a second camera down the road.

I've seen it on lots of sites including Babystyle.com and Babyuniverse (or babyage.com), but Amazon's price is the lowest.

I'm probably going to order it today, so I'll let you know what I think!

Oh, just a note...it does run on a 2.4 Ghz frequency, so you may experience interference or static if your portable phones or nursery sound monitor are also 2.4 Ghz. All our stuff is 900 Mhz, so I'm hoping we won't have any static issues. :)

We have the Mobicam after trying several other models. It has worked great for us even with the nursery being on the first floor and our room on the second floor. Clear picture and sound. We do get a little static when we are on our cell phones near the monitor.

We have had it for over 1 year and have dropped it more than once. Still ticking!

Please do let me know! I have looked at this one too. I wonder if any of them will work in our house because we live very close to our neighbors on both sides and all of us have wireless networks and many cordless phones. Lots of interference!

Do you find the screen size too small? I was about to order it and then my husband freaked out when he saw the screen dimensions.

I've had the Mobicam for six months and love it. I posted a review on it at the beginning of the year.

Our home phone is 900 mHz and our FP monitor is some superlow frequency, so the only bad interference with us is from the microwave. I can live with that.

The screen's small, but really all I need to see is whether DD's awake, sound asleep, or tossing and turning. I can see all that very clearly. My parents watch DD during the week and are nearing 70 years old, and they can see DD fine through the monitor.

A friend of mine got this and initially had it interfere with his wireless network, but the static went away as soon as they changed channels. I live in the city and do pick up static from neighbors devices at times--it sometimes causes the Auto feature to remain on no matter how low I put the sensitivity. I got concerned about picture burn-in on the screen, so overnight I just use my old FP Sound and Lights. I just turn the Mobicam on if DD happens to wake up.

I just checked out the price on Amazon, what a deal!

I have the Mobicam and I love it! Best purchase yet. I bought this for my second daughter in December (now 6 months old) but I bought a second cam for my 5yr old's room too. We live in a two story and our master is down but the kids are both up. I also have a wireless network and I rarely get interference. I don't know how I survived without one during the early years of my first daughter! I don't use the second one for my older daughter very often but I like knowing that I can check on her at any time (comes in handy when things are tooooo quiet with her!) I would recommend this to anyone. I worried about the screen too but the picture is so good I don't even notice. I like the compact size.

I agree with the pp's, the screen is not too small. You can see clearly.

I just found the Mobicam for $135. I was just about to buy it from Target, when I found this pricing!

That's a great price. I paid $199 for mine at a store locally.

Is it only battery operated or can it be plugged in?

Operates with both batteries or plugs in, I will tell you it eats up batteries though. I travel with and just bring the plugs too.

I'm thinking about getting one of these too. We have an angel monitor which has help me relax about SIDS much more than I could have otherwise.

We LOVED the Angel monitor too! So much easier to relax, in my opinion. Especially since I had an early tummy sleeper.

I ordered my Mobicam yesterday from amazon.com! I'm so excited to get it!

I was a worrier too and used both the Angel & Mobi until my dd was almost 10 months old!!! I finally cut the ties to my Angel monitor and put it away.

I have used the Mobi since dd was born and it is going strong at 15 months. Btw, I have dropped more than a few times too.
