My mom picked up a pack n play from a friend at work and it needs cleaned. Its not gross but my DS and niece will be using it and I really want to scrub it well. Would a little bleach in some soapy water and a day in the sun be the trick. I dont mind if the colors fad a little I am just more concerned with the germs. Thanks for any help :)

Believe it or not, I just cleaned an old Graco Totyard today. And by old I mean it was bought for my niece in 1992. Apparently my sister didn't clean it up before she packed it away after using it for my nephew who is now 7.

I set it up outside and left the base/pad out. To clean I just used a bit of Dawn dishsoap in a bucket of warm water. The mix was probably about what I would use to wash dishes. I used an old wash cloth to scrub the fabric parts and then took the garden hose with a jet nozzle and rinsed the whole thing down. Left it out in the sun to dry. I did start pretty late in the afternoon on this so the pad was not completely dry, so I stashed it in the garage for night.

It looks a whole lot better now than it did when I pulled it out of the bag.

HTH!

I really hate bleach, so I always look for alternate ways of cleaning things. I really think the PP's method would probably be sufficient--the sun will disinfect anything the water and soap doesn't get rid of. If you really want, you can also use a little scented vinegar (I like peppermint, TTO, or lime oil) to wipe it down. The vinegar acts as a really good disinfectant. Then you can hose it down like the PP mentioned and leave it out in the sun.
