I have a 28 month old Ds who loves instruments--is the Baby Schoenhut too young for him? (I also have an 8 month old but would like a piano that he can play and actually have lessons on in a few years--mini-lessons.) Any music aficionados know if this piano would work for having lessons or is too small? Does it have enough keys for learning how to play the piano or is there a better one I can get (w/o shelling out the big bucks!!) TIA!

I think all of the small pianos have an abbreviated version of the keyboard. What some people I know have done is to purchase a keyboard for practice at home instead of investing in a piano right away.

I love the Schoenhuts, they are so beautiful, and I've seen them show up on Ebay new in box for alot less than the catalogs.

the schoenhut baby grand is 30 keys rather than 88. i think it's fine for learning. to be sure, you might want to ask a piano teacher if they'd use it. there is also a 37 key "concert" one, for about $100 more.
