Hi! I was trying to pick a Corolle Babipouce for my DS from kidsurplus. I really like the bright colors on the girl doll http://store1.yimg.com/I/kidsurplus_1854_13904353 but considering that there aren't many boy dolls around, would it be better to get this one instead? http://store1.yimg.com/I/kidsurplus_1854_13994775

They are both adorable, and I haven't been able to decide....Any ideas...? Please help!
TIA!

If you search for the earlier post a few days ago on Loveys, someone showed some really cute dolls that I think are pretty gender neutral. Also, on maukilo.com, I saw some knit dolls/animals that I think are soooo cute. I love the basil bunny, I just might need to get one for my ds. They are by blabla, and on their website, www.blabla.com, they show other knit dolls, a little elf one that would be cute for a boy.

At 13 months we got the Tidoo. The Babipouce are more like a stuffed animal type of doll. It's harder to do pretend play with a stuffed doll.

But if you are wanting to choose between the two, I say get the brighter colored one. The clothes on the boy are kind of drab in my opinion.

Thanks Karen! Which Tidoo did you get? And can kids play with a Tidoo outside of the bath..I guess I misunderstood the write-up! Yes- I thought the boy was dull too- loved the romper colors on the girl, and I think I saw a Tidoo on kidsurplus with similar colors.

You can play with it out of the bath too, in fact ours has never been in the bath. It was the perfect size and weight for her to play with at age 12 months and she still sleeps with it every night.

...and he loves it. He was about 15 months when I bought it for him, and mostly likes taking the clothes off, although he will sometimes hug the doll. I tried putting it in the tub with him, but for some reason that upsets him and he scowls and hands the doll back to Mommy! I think it's a very gender-neutral doll, and I liked that it has brown eyes (like DS).

I just received the Corolle Babipouce in the bright colors and she is adorable. This will be my daughter's first doll. On screen it looks brash, but in person it is cute and fun. And while the boy doll isn't snazzy at all, he is so very sweet looking. I bought my son a Corolle Babipouce for his first Christmas and he still cares for his "baby." I am hoping my daughter will love hers just as much.

Thanks! I hadn't been considering the Tidoo, but I guess that's what I'll get him! Just one thought- did you ladies consider the Calin dolls when you got the Tidoo? DS has very dry skin so while he loves the water and taking a bath, its really a very quick affair and not much play. So I was wondering if a Calin is a good option too.
Thanks again!

JerseyMom, how old was your DS when you gave him the Babipouce? Thanks!

Sorry, not the PP, but I just got a Calin for my 19 mo DS/DD and they love it, so much so that I will have to buy another doll since they fight over feeding her in the doll stroller LOL. It is sweet seeing how tender DS is with the doll. DD hauls her everywhere and neither have shown any interest in dolls or stuffed animals until now. The Calin doll has a very nice realistic face, hands and feet, unlike many other dolls which can be kind of creepy to me. The body is soft and bean filled and very good for little hands to grasp. I am now thinking of the previously mentioned Tidoo for a second doll for DS since DH can probably stomache him carrying around a gender neutral doll than one dressed in pastel pink :P

He was only 9 months old. Santa gave him a red walker wagon and his doll sat inside. He was just learning to walk at that point so he would push his doll around. Then he had to have it in his crib, but it wasn't his favorite toy. It wasn't until he was 18 months or so that he really started to play with the doll vs just cuddling in the crib. My daughter is only 7 months and I don't expect to give her doll to her for a few more months.
