Recently, my mother girlfriends have all purchased the Prima Pappa chair. They seem to like it, but I have read the many posts here and I understand that it is overrated (generally). I am interested in the Fisher Price and in the Baby Trend. I am not a fan of ruffles or loud patterns, though. Does this mean that I have to go with the Peg chair?? Is there a Baby Trend in vinyl?? Help?

What about the Zooper?

I have the Baby Trend. The cushion is reversible, and the ruffle is only on one side. So you can turn it to the non-ruffle side. I actually prefer the fabric cushion to vinyl. I just think sitting on fabric is more comfortable than sitting on vinyl. It's easy to throw in the wash. And I will admit that I reversed a dirty cushion to the clean side if I hadn't had a chance to wash it before company came to dinner or something. ;)

There is a new Baby Trend Malawi high chair that comes with a cloth cover and from what I hear it has a vinyl seat cover too...so like you can put the cloth on for company and having the clean look and put the vinyl on for feedings. :)

There is a Fisher-Price chair without ruffles that's kind of nice..vinyl seat tho I think. But I know lots of people that like Fisher-Price chairs.

I have the Baby Trend Palm Tree print...with ruffles but it's not too ruffle-y for me. I can reverse to a non ruffle version too. You can check it out at BRU to see if you like the reverse sides. I just like cloth better than vinyl cuz vinyl will crack over time and sticks to your skin when it's hot. A friend has a Peg Perego but he has the leather version that rocks and plays music...a bit too much for me.

Another idea. We used a First Years feeding seat ($20 booster chair) and used that for the first year or so, then spent our money on a Kinderzeat for later. It's about the price of the Prima Pappa. I didn't really like any of the high chairs, and Fia will sit in the Kinderzeat for years.

Some of the Fisher Price styles did not have ruffles or loud patterns, so you might want to explore a bit.

I got the Baby Trend first and returned it- couldn't get the tray off or on with one hand- and Baby Trend was NOT helpful about it when I called their customer service number. I ended up with the Fisher Price (despite the loud colors), but had I known better, I would have skipped the high chair entirely and got the Kinderzeat. DD nursed for so long, the high chair was really unnecessary. She doesn't want the tray, she wants to eat from a plate, on the table, like us. :)

I have the Prima Pappa and the Zooper Peas & Carrots. I LOVE the Prima and HATE the Zooper. THe Zooper chair is uncomfortable and doesn't sit deep enough if that makes sense. The Prima is perfect and dd loves it.

I would recommend bringing your ds to the store and seeing what chair fits him best. They all are different sizes, with trays at different heights and all.

I wish I would have done that because I HATE our chair as a result. Too much room between my ds and the tray (and that is with the infant insert in!) and the tray is too high for him to use utensils effectively.

Great idea Deb, had I done that I would not have purchased the Zooper.
