I am looking for a digital camera to get pictures of all the first for my fast moving baby. Any suggestions? I am looking to spend $200-375?

I have the Canon PowerShot S400 Digital Elph.

I love it. It is small enough to put in my pocket and it takes great pictures. (4 megapixels) It also takes video - I think about a minute and a half each.

I have the same camera and love it. Most digital cameras have a repeat mode to capture split second moves. The only drawback I think is that you need lots of light bc the flash can't keep up with the lens.

DH and I bought a new digital camera and a camcorder before the birth of our baby girl.

The digital camera we got can also take videos (you can shoot as long as your storage card can take...we got a 1GB card). We get so much use out of the digital camera. We caught DD's first smile, first giggle and first roll with it.

As for the camcorder, we just used it once when DH filmed the birth. I think you can do away with just borrowing a camcorder from a friend for the birth. Bringing out the camcorder is such a hassle and when your baby is about to roll/turn or flashe that first smile, you'll want a camera that's easy to whip out, turn on and use.

We got the Casio Exilim EX-Z50...DH did a lot of research on that. Do a search at pricegrabber.com We got ours at bhphotovideo.com since they were the cheapest that the time but you might get a better deal with other sites.
