View Full Version : Looking ahead to Christmas ... Best Wooden Kitchen?
I want to start purchasing my son's Christmas presents now, especially the big stuff. I'd like to get him a play wooden kitchen. Anybody have one they *really* like? I've seen a few mentioned on here, but was wondering if one was better than the others.

Here's a link to a thread that I found really helpful:

I'm planning on purchasing this set for DD for Christmas from Constructive Playthings for $153.99:

I was looking on the site and it looks like for any item over $150 the shipping is $17.95 but you might want to call to confirm.

That's right. The whole thing came to about $170. We just got the Constructive Playthings kitchen and we love it. Absolutely no complaints - and we've gotten tons of envious compliments. For the price, I think it was the best I could fine that fit my needs.
I liked the KidKraft one but just couldn't get the pastel colors for my son and the Learning Express primary color one was too expensive wiht tax & shipping added.
I had also liked the Small World kitchen but, ultimately, I think I like this one better because the hutch/shelf above the sink/stove is very useful (plus, of course, this one is much cheaper).
If anyone has any questions on this one, I'd be glad to answer them.

Has anyone gotten the kitchen pieces from Target? They are on sale now and I am really interested, but the shipping is insane. Just wondering if anyone has them...

Are the Target kitchens on sale at the store or on the website? And which ones are you referring to? I'm searching for Christmas!! TIA!!

Well... the website has them on sale. They are white like MDF or something. They don't say web only. I have called a zillion stores and none of them seem to carry them or have any idea how to help me. When I put them in my cart, the shipping is astronomical. I have emailed Target CS to fight with them a little. I will keep you posted.
Thanks,
Kathryn

This is a FANTASTIC thread (the link in your post). I've had it bookmarked for a while.

Thanks, Kathryn! Will keep my eyes open at the Targets here too. I do recall looking for them at Christmastime last year because my old college roommate had said she'd seen them in her Targets (3 hours north) the year before - I started looking last Fall, and they were never stocked. When I looked online the shipping WAS high, and then they were on backorder for weeks on end, so I gave it up. It was probably a good thing because I think dd will really know what to do with it this Christmas. Are you looking for it for your daughter's birthday next month? If so, I hope you can get it!! Thanks again for updates!
eta: I meant to ask - are you looking at the Restore & Restyle pieces for $41.99 each or the all-in-one KidKraft (I assume b/c I've seen it on other websites) for $149.99?
