Was this discontinued? I picked up some pieces at Target awhile back on clearance and now that we are ready to use it, I find that I don't have an engine so it doesn't do anything. I went back to Target and there was nothing there.

Is it worth trying to find the stuff on eBay or was this set just not very good? Do your kids like it?

Hi,

I bought a bunch of these for DS when they were on clearance at Target as well and he loves them (but he definitely plays with the wooden ones much more). The interactives are neat that the buildings "talk" to the engines when they go over the track connected to the building. The sets (barrel loader, deluxe roundhouse, etc.) tend to include 1 engine.

I saw some pieces recently at Ross for around 30 to 50% off. Not as nice as the Target clearance, but if you need some pieces its better than retail. I saw the Barrel loader set for $17.99, the Percy train for $3.99, James for $4.99, and the bucket of tracks, the coal loader and the water tower for $8.99 each

They also still sell them at www.trainsgalore.com. They sell for almost retail, so its pricy, but I think still less than some ebay auctions had been going for. I've never purchased from them, but someone had mentioned it on another board and they seemed pleased.

We picked up some pieces recently at Ross but like you don't have an engine yet. But DS really likes to push the buttons on the roundhouse and make the watertower noise. Target.com has a few sets but no engines. I'm going to buy an engine from Trainsgalore.com when I place DS's birthday order just because I think it would be fun to hear the pieces greet Thomas.
