I know there's a bunch of SB lovers here and I found a new book yesterday at Barnes and Noble. "The Belly Button Book" with the hippos in it! There's even a line from the "Belly Button" song. :D

Maybe this is old news, but it was new to me! :D LOL

I just spotted this at Target last week, and had to buy it. DS recently discovered his belly button and thinks the book is hilarious, and I love the illustrations - especially the tiny baby hippo and her "bee bo!"

Thanks for the info! Jazz just discovered my belly button and I've been pointing hers out too. I didn't know there was a song! I'll need to find that too! Thanks. I love belly buttons.

I picked this up from TJMaxx over a month ago...had never seen it before and have no idea how they got it when it's so new!

Marisa, SB has a couple of CDs - I think it's Rhinosauras Tap that has the Belly Button song. Love that CD - it's a bunch of celebrities singing. That's how we figured out the proper tune to Snuggle Puppy!

Thanks for the tip!!! I really do love belly buttons.

I *never* thought I'd be one to buy a CD of kids' songs, but Jazz loves to dance, so maybe "just this once"! yeah, right.... Can't wait to see DH's reaction.

Curious, is there a song that goes with the "Going to Bed Book?" I always sing it to the tune of "Rockabye Baby" and I wondered if that was intended.

The song is in the Philadelphia Chickens book/CD. I just put both the Belly Button Book and the Philadelphia on my Amazon wishlist. :) I have her Rhinoceros Tap CD and it's definitely fun to listen to.

And Marisa! What a great idea to sing the "Going to Bed Book" to the tune of Rockabye Baby. I don't know if it's intentional or not, but it sure seems too perfect to not be planned that way! :P That one is definitely one of her more favorite books.

This is not very "kids musicy" kid's music. When you read stuff about it, Sandra Boynton was looking for kids music that she didn't mind listening to. Philly Chicks is one of our personal all around favorites. There are lots of different music styles represented in the songs and they are enjoyable for both kids and adults.

Sold!! Thanks!

And, BTW, I actually do like some Raffi songs, I just hadn't bought the CDs, but I sing Baby Beluga to Jazz almost every day.

Another plug for Philedelphia Chickens. Even my dh likes the PC song! He's like, "Oooh listen to that bass line!" ROTFL! Considering he DESPISES Raffi, I was ROLLING when he said that!

Oh, and my 7 yo pointed out that on every page that the 'be boo' baby's on, her toy duck is as well. :D

Do you think Rhinoceros Tap would be a good/appropriate gift for a first birthday? My nephew turns one in a couple of weeks, and I don't know what to get him. I know they have a ton of toys at their house (also have a 3 1/2 year old girl) so I don't want to send more STUFF, kwim?

I got Philadelphia Chickens for my niece (different family) before she was born (at the baby shower) because they live in Philly. Rhinoceros Tap sounds great, too, but I worry that at age 1 this will be more of a gift for my nephew's big sister, especially since right now his favorite thing to do is RUN RUN RUN and he is unlikely to stay in one place long enough to listen to the music!

ITunes has lots of Boynton songs, so you can burn your own CDs. Just type in Boynton, or Album name, or Song name.

Belly Button Song, Snuggle Puppy, etc. Seems like they're all there!

ETA: Besides the usual $.99/song, you can alternatively download the whole albums for $9.99.

Doh! I never thought about doing that! I'll have to keep that in mind for future music. Sounds like a great idea if you don't care about music notes, etc.
