Hi,
My 11 month old DD is pulling herself upright on anything and everything. She cruises back and forth along the sofa, bed, crib etc. She's trying to push the high chair and walk.
Can someone please recommend toys which she can push safely and practise walking? (I know walkers are bad.)
Please let me know your favorite walking toys.
Also any other favorites for a 11 month old.
TIA,

We liked Radio Flyer's Walker Wagon. It has resistance wheels so it doesn't take off on the baby as much as some of the lighter plastic ones. They are a little spendy (ok a lot spendy) about $70 but the person we bought ours from says her seven year old still plays with it.

We have this one which DS seems to love (as well as 7-yo DD!). It's pricy, but I bought it as the only present for his 1st birthday. I did also find a 10% off coupon and I think it was free shipping.

Do NOT get the Berchet car/walker from One Step Ahead. While it's fine for DD now, it is very tippy and is not ideal.

We let DD push around sturdy chairs and an ottoman with wheels too.

Hi,
We have this one, and it has been loved by my 5,3, and 10 months old (who is pushing this right now!).
In general, toys for pushing is a short lived thing, but I love that this converts to a ride-on and a pull-cart. My 3 year old uses this as a grocery cart to tote stuff in. She likes to ride on it, too, still. I like the fact that it doesn't need batteries and pretty simple. Anyway, def. get something that converts to a ride-on later!

You can get it at www.kidsurplus.com, I think.

I'm not sure how good this is for a cruiser because we didn't get it until about two or three weeks after Kaya started walking. But we have the Kettler push car that we got at Kidsurplus and she LOVES it. She can sit on it and walk it like she's riding a car, or she can push the back. It rolls quite easily on our wood floors, but she can also push it on the rugs and over the lip of the rugs. I guess it's on the lightweight side because Kaya can actually lift it up by the steering wheel and back handle. But that may vary from baby to baby because she's been interested in carrying around objects bigger than her ever since she started walking...hmm...now that I think about it, she also carried around objects when she was crawling. ;)
Favorite toys will depend on what your kid enjoys, but Kaya loved her drums, her xylophone, containers of all kinds (like stacking cups), and her Lego blocks (duplo and quattro). She's still playing with most of that. :)

My daughter LOVED the Fisher Price "Stride to Ride"--she would squeal with glee as she toddled along behind it. Later, after she was a pro with walking, we snapped the "legs" together and they formed a seat--transforming the toy into a car for her.

Thanks for the great suggestions. Most of them seem to be multifunctional which I had never thought of.
The Haba one is adorable - do you know if they can sit and ride in it?
Thanks,

We have the Parents Walker Wagon from Battat. Target carries it for $50 but online the cheapest place is kidsurplus at $72.99 http://store.yahoo.com/kidsurplus/batpm9991.html

I'm embarrassed to admit this, but both my 7yo, 65# DD AND DS 20# sit and ride in it (together)! I keep telling them NO, but they just laugh and keep going. They have so much fun that I just don't have the heart to stop them. The back part is also good for storing toys or other "treasures."

We have the Haba car and got a LeapStart one as a gift. He likes both of them, although he prefers to push the Leapstart sideways :) And he also tries pushes the highchair around despite the availability of the toys (and office chairs and basically anything else that he can make move...they all seem more fun than the toys specifically designed for that purpose)

We were just notified of a recall on this item so be careful in buying it used. You can contact the manufacturer for a kit to fix the problem.

My parents got DD's from LLBean, who are sending a kit PLUS a gift certificate for the full cost of the item because they felt that simply offering the kit was not sufficient. Great company!

Best,
Mary

We have the radio flyer walker wagon. DS loved it when he was in the crusiing phase. He even pushed it around outside. Now it mostly stores toys but once it a while DS likes to sit in it!

We also bought a friend of ours the Parents Walker Wagon from target and she loves it. Apparently, it entertains her for hours!

I want to get one for Alek, but am worried he'll lose control and fall on his precous little face. Which of these toys have the best safety?

The Radio Flyer wagon has built-in resistance. Plus since it is wood it is heavier than that plastic ones. The FP Stride-to-ride doesn't but some moms form her said they put elastics around the wheels to help them grip and that one slipped into the axel area and slowed it down as well.

I can't comment on the other wooden because we haven't realy tried them.

We had the playskool one that converted to a small ride on toy, I paid $20 I think at TRU for it. Both girls hated it as a push walker but liked it as a small ride on. It was outgrown earlier than the box said, both were too big to ride on it at just about 2.

What worked better was one of the graco doll strollers, we have the big quattro tour one, it's more stable then the smaller doll umbrella strollers and we have the little tykes plastic shopping cart, that works well too and it's also a bit heavier so more stable.

We have a couple of different ones, one Stride to Ride and one from Discovery Toys. Of course, ds prefers the kitchen chairs to anything!
