Maybe this varies from store to store, but my local TJ Maxx just got in a ton of new toys (including some half price Thomas stuff!) and clearanced out a lot of the old. My favorite buy was a unit block set by Guidecraft, which was originally $70 and marked down to $29. The blocks are rubber wood, not maple, but for the price I couldn't pass it up! If you are starting holiday shopping I would recommend a stop there.
