Here's what I'm looking for for my 3.5 yo for Christmas:

brown hair
brown eyes
18-20 inches so it can wear real baby clothes
cuddly, not hard plastic
under $100

G would prefer one that takes a binky but I don't consider that my key criteria.

Has anyone seen my perfect dolly?

Would you consider a Waldorf doll? They run about $100ish give or take but it seems like it meets your description :)

Yep, I've looked at a few. Does anyone here make them?

Hi, I got my daughter a LaBaby doll by Berenger. She has a soft body. She has blue eyes and brown hair but if you go online they have many options. I got her this for her 2nd bday. She will not go anywhere without it, if we go out to eat her baby has to have a highchair too. I have gotten so many comments from people thinking she is real. She has become part of our family and goes wherever my dd goes.

Where can I find a link for this doll? I'm also searching for a doll for Kaya's second birthday and would like to see these.

Beth, I'd also be interested in looking at the Waldorf dolls--but what did Angela mean by "Does anyone make them?" Are these dolls do-it-yourself dolls?

Thanks, and sorry for hijacking, Angela!

LOL Eileen, that's okay!

I was wondering if any BBBers had a home biz making Waldorf dolls. Some places online do offer kids so you can make your own. :D

My favorite Waldorf doll site is:

www.whereswaldorf.com , they should be opening for orders soon. I plan to get a nursing mama doll for myself (weaning present) and a 12 boy doll for Fory for Christmas.

Google Waldorf Dolls, and you'll find lots of mamas who make them. Weir dolls www.weirdolls.com has kits, as does Joy's Waldorf dolls, and Magic Cabin. Where's Waldorf had kits at www.knittedsandfitteds.com this week, too.

Yep, there are DIY kits or you can buy "ready made" or customized dolls.

The biggest/most well known are:
http://www.joyswaldorfdolls.com/
http://weirdolls.com/

Ebay usually has quite a number of dolls, and there are lots of WAHMs that make them too.

This yahoo group: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/waldorf_craft/?yguid=179172386 has info on doll making and other waldorf crafts, and several women on there have websites where they sell dolls.

Love these, especially the pregnant doll...if I ever am lucky enough to get pg again I'm buying myself one LOL

Does anyone know anything about these dolls?

http://cgi.ebay.com/LEE-MIDDLETON-THOUGHTFUL-NEW-SCULPT-VINYL-BABY-DOLL_W0QQitemZ5612645753QQcategoryZ15984QQcmdZView Item

DH thinks Kaya might enjoy a more realistic looking doll, but I also want something that is huggable. I did notice she liked carrying her friend's doll around. Her friend's doll has the vinyl head/hands and cloth body.

Which reminds me--is the vinyl that is used in making a lot of dolls problematic in terms of toxicity?

I ordered a nursing mama doll for me, with baby, and a 12 in unjointed doll for Fory. The mama will have glasses and short hair like me, and Fory's doll will have Elvis hair and blue eyes. like he does.

The Corelle BabiPouce, like this one, is advertised as being PVC-free.

How about one of these? They are real cute. http://www.mytwinn.com/mytwinn/TwinnBaby.html?lid=LeftNav_TwinnBaby&lpos=LeftNav She's 20 inches.
You can pick hair/eye color and even the face for $79.00. I'm thinking of one of the larger dolls for my 8 year old for Christmas. Here's a cute doll that would be lighter weight which would be good for your dd but I can't tell eye color and she has no hair but she takes a paci.http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0001YH00S/qid=1128469328/br=1-16/ref=br_lf_t_16//102-7428830-9553722?v=glance&s=toys&n=13625381
I want to mention though that you might think about not getting one with hair because as a Mom of 3 girls I can tell you the hair gets ratty wild looking fast.HTH

What about the American Girl Dolls....there is the just like me doll (long hair etc) or you can get the Bitty Baby...again you pick the hair color etc. Both are under $100....Bitty baby has a starter collection for 98 that comes with a trunk, blaknet, extra clothes etc. I think thats what we are getting both girls for xmas this year. I wanted to do the waldorf dolls, but I think my girls are more attached to the realistic babies...I might just have to get one for myself instead!

I ordered a nursing Mama and toddler for me and Orion as well, and got a baby too, for good measure. Orion is only 13 months, so still at the stage where he either throws his dollies or tries to eat them, but he has started watching me when I model being nice to dolly, so I hope by Christmas he'll like his own little doll, and if not, well, the set is more for me anyway, LOL!

Thanks for sharing the site! I can't wait ot get my nursing family :)
