Has anyone skipped the tricycle and gone right to a bike with training wheels?

We were looking at some small bikes with training wheels today. DD really was drawn to them. She wasn't really drawn to the tricycles. I was wondering if anyone has just skipped the tricycle? DD will be almost 2.5 when she starts using one (after the winter).

Yep we did. I had planned to get DD a trike for her 3rd birthday but while we were in a store she managed to wrangle a bike with training wheels off the shelf and was half way across the store before I could stop her! LOL That was when she was about 2 3/4.

We did too!

My brother got my daughter a Radio Flyer tricycle
for her birthday. She rode it once or twice.

Then, on a whim, my husband and I got her a really
nice Trek bike with training wheels.
She rides this bike like she is Evil Knieval. :)

She does better on her bike than the 5 and 6 year
olds in our neighborhood.
(My daughter is 3.5 years old.)

Yep, we will. DS is entranced with the neighbor girl's bike with training wheels and actually doesn't do half bad with it! Grandma bought him a Big Wheel last week, and we plan to get him a bike with training wheels in early spring.
